Case Study

BC Cancer Foundation

The fundraising partner of BC Cancer, powering breakthrough cancer research and life-saving care for British Columbians.

Introduction

King Taps is one of Canada’s most exciting new restaurant concepts, offering the highest quality food, drink and guest experience with a young, casual and high energy environment. Its five locations in Vancouver, Kelowna and Toronto are always busy, and promise more to come.

Project Scope

  • Content strategy management, process, and execution including social templates
  • Workout to Conquer Cancer – campaign creative concept refresh, video and photo production, visual foundation (templates for ads, posters, emails)
  • 90th Anniversary campaign – campaign creative concept and execution, strategic curation of assets to tell a story through video, website landing page design

The Challenge

Social
Started working with them when the social media manager left as a stop-gap solution. The social feeds were not visually appealing, lacked strategic messaging and planning resulting in a decline in impressions and engagement.

Workout to Conquer Cancer
The campaign has raised over $8M for BCCF but hasn’t been refreshed since 2020. Client was seeking a fresh creative concept that re-energizes the campaign, inspires participation and encourages digital engagement

90th Anniversary
2025 was a milestone year for BCCF and presented an opportunity to celebrate 90 years of history: instill pride, build trust, be perceived as a catalyst of innovation
Client wanted to create an evergreen campaign that celebrated their history as part of their overall brand strategy (increase brand familiarity)

The Solution

Social
Developed a content strategy that included content pillars, a channel by channel strategy, creative ideas, UGC activations and boosting strategy. Part of this was also creating their social content planning process on Asana which was replicated across other areas of the organization.
Leaned more into what’s working: storytelling and profiling of survivors. Developed a creative approach to profiles that included both high-performing reels and carousels.
Created a library of social templates that could be used to elevate the feed visually and drive engagement.

Workout to Conquer Cancer
Leaned into the accessibility differentiator of this campaign that sets it apart from other fitness challenges that may feel like too much to participate in. Highlighted that all it takes is 30 minutes a day of movement, whatever that looks like for you which resulted in the campaign messaging: The Power of 31 – Your pace, your style, every move matters.

90th Anniversary
Strategically curated a long list of assets into powerful milestones and messaging that resonates with a mass audience. Created a creative campaign look-and-feel that was applied to a video and landing page

The Results

Social (over 6 months)
Increased impressions across all channels by 163.9% YoY
Increased followers across all channels by 10.1% YoY
Boosted posts strategy brought in additional 500k views

Workout to Conquer Cancer
Won’t find out until fall

90th Anniversary
Could try to get some stats around landing page views/video views?

“Working with the Mothership team has been an absolute pleasure. Ali and Jess are true collaborators—clear, thoughtful, and open to feedback, making every project feel like a genuine partnership.

Not only did they streamline our social media processes, they also created a set of beautifully designed templates that we now use regularly across our brand. Their work on the 90th campaign and our partnership with the Vancouver SVNS—from concepting to production—brought both projects to life in a way that felt elevated, polished, and deeply aligned with our brand and storytelling goals.

They consistently brought strong creative direction and helped us achieve the impact we were striving for. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again”
